DCC Goes Live, August 2003

It was a red-letter day for the modeling group this Saturday afternoon when the DCC system got its first workout. Kevin O'Roark, Chuck O'Hearn, Chris Palomares, and Skip Purper were at the controls. DCC allows individual cab control of multiple concurrently running locomotives without the traditional block setup. Note the hood from SMVRR No. 10 in the background (looks like a yellow soda machine). It was after hours on a Saturday, and a young boy and his Dad were looking in through the windows (look carefully at left). The modelers invited them in to watch the event, but it's obvious the little guy was more interested in the Thomas the Tank table. Dad and son stayed until Mom came and retrieved them!
