The Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum (SMVRHM), founded as a non-profit, educational museum, is dedicated to the preservation of the railroad heritage of California, the Central Coast, and the Santa Maria Valley. Schedule of regular SMVRHM meetings. The Museum has acquired the historic Caboose Number 180, which now proudly sits on leased tracks at Jones and McClelland streets in the Santa Maria Valley Railroad (SMVRR) yard. After repair and preservation it will become the museum's first exhibit. The Museum will tell the tale of railroading through interpretive exhibits, displays and the operation of vintage rolling stock. The Museum will build and operate a large model (HO) railroad depicting railroad operations history in the Santa Maria Valley. The Museum is a member of these organizations:
The Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of the month starting at 6:00pm in the Hancock Room of the Historic Santa Maria Inn. The room changes occasionally, so check at the front desk.
